Piobaireachd is the classical music of the great Highland bagpipe. The word simply means 'piping', because at one time this was the only kind of music played on this bagpipe. 'Piob' is a Gaelic word meaning a pipe, or a bagpipe, 'piobair' is a piper; and 'piobaireachd' is what a piper does with a pipe. '
